Antonio Gaggiano is an Italian percussionist, focus on the performance of the contemporary repertoire of the percussion.
He has attended masterclasses with internationally renowned percussionists: Marinus Komst (Royal Concertgebouw), Filippo Lattanzi, Markus Leoson, David Friedman, Ruud Wiener, Gordon Stout, Ludwig Albert, Tanasit Siripanichwattana, Nanae Mimura.
He has collaborated with various orchestras including: Europa Incanto Orchestra, Apulia youth symphony orchestra, symphony orchestra of the Umberto Giordano conservatory, wind orchestra of the Umberto Giordano conservatory, Symphony Orchestra of Magna Grecia, Bern Musikfest Ensemble fur neue Musik, Ensemble Recherche ,Central Schweiz Jugendorchester, SinfoniorchesterBasel, NeuesOrchester Basel, O.R.T Orchestra della Toscana. He has collaborated with composer and artists as Fritz Hauser, Toshio Hosokawa ,Salvatore Sciarrino, Pierluigi Billone, Helmut Lachenmann and Rebecca Saunders.
He won an Erasmus scholarship that allowed him to study for 2 academic years at “Kask Conservatorium Gent”, with teachers Wim Konink, Gert D ’Haese and Philip Rathè.
He gets the 3rd prize at the International Composition Competition "Città di Albenga" composing a piece called "Discontinuum" for Piano solo dedicated to G. Ligeti, 2nd Prize at the “WPM Snare drum competition”, 2nd prize at the "Constantine the Great international online competition ”and he won the “World percussion movement 2021 vibraphone competition”, receiving numerous awards from Adams factory. In addition, he is doing the specialization summer course at the “Chigiana Academy” of Siena under the guidance of Maestro Antonio Caggiano where he is member of the “Chigiana Percussion Ensemble”.
From September 2022 Antonio is Master student in the prestigious percussion class of M° Christian Dierestein at “Hochschule fur Musik Basel” and he is constantly collaborating as a percussionist with Sinfoniorchester Basel.
